About the author

Felber, Johanna

Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität Munich (LMU), Germany

Johanna Felber is about to finish her master’s degree in communication and environmental studies at LMU Munich. Throughout her studies, she has focused on discourses and how they shape society. To her, the Ecopolis München exhibition signifies a perfect combination of her studies: Telling a different story about a city, compared to what we already thought we knew.

Reyes Aldana, Hugo

Helmholtz Centre for Environmental Research - UFZ, Germany

Hugo Reyes Aldana holds a bachelor’s degree in biology from the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM). After that, he decided to come to Germany in order to obtain a master’s degree in evolution, ecology, and systematics from LMU Munich, where he also joined the Environmental Studies Certificate Program of the RCC. Hugo is currently a PhD candidate at the Helmholtz Center for Environmental Research in Magdeburg, where he studies the multiple interacting factors that influence ecosystem metabolism and how this can be used for monitoring and restoring aquatic environments.

Wang, Xiao

Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität Munich (LMU), Germany

Xiao Wang studied linguistics and environmental studies at LMU Munich. She was born and raised in China, and she is now living in Germany. Xiao is interested in the impacts of different societal patterns on environmental problems.

Kleemann, Katrin

Rachel Carson Center for Environment and Society, LMU Munich, Germany

Katrin Kleemann is a doctoral candidate at the Rachel Carson Center / LMU Munich in Germany, she studies environmental history and geology. Her doctoral project investigates the Icelandic Laki fissure eruption of 1783 and its impacts on the northern hemisphere. She holds a master’s degree in early modern history and a bachelor’s degree in history and cultural anthropology. Katrin receives a doctoral fellowship from the Andrea von Braun Stiftung. She also is the social media editor for the Climate History Network and HistoricalClimatology.com.

Since then he has been a lecturer at the University of Wisconsin-Madison and has worked on various research and writing projects. His first book, The Future City on the Inland Sea: A History of Imaginative Geographies of Lake Superior, was published by Ohio University Press in 2007. It won the Great Lakes American Studies Association and Ohio University Press book award and was awarded the J. B. Jackson Prize by the Association of American Geographers. He is currently writing a book about the American Medical Center for Burma, 1945–1965.
