Iosif Botetzagias is a professor at the Department of Environment, University of the Aegean, Greece and a visiting professor at the Department of History, Ionian University, Greece. His environmental-history research focuses on nature conservation and human–animal relations in modern Greece. He is the author of The Human History of Dogs (2017, in Greek) and coauthor (with Giorgos Kostopoulos) of “‘For the Thorough Conservation of the Forests’: A History of Forest Management and Protection in ‘Old Greece,’ 1830–1880” (published in the Journal of Modern Greek Studies).
