Reinhold Reith teaches economic and social history in the Department of History at Salzburg University. He studied history and political science at the University of Constance, where he completed his PhD in 1987. Having subsequently participated in a range of research projects, in 1989 he was named assistant professor and lecturer at the Institute for the History of Technology and Science at the Technical University in Berlin, a post he held until 1999. In 1999 he was made Chair of Economic and Social History at Salzburg University, and from 2007 head of the department. His main research and teaching interests lie in the fields of economic and social history, concerning in particular environmental history and the history of technology.
