Es kommt nun unglücklicherweise hinzu, daß er nicht mit im Hause wohnen soll, und obwohl er so tut, als wäre es ihm gleichgültig, so wurmt es ihn doch wohl sehr, aber ich habe den Verdacht, der Grund dafür ist nur der, weil er gern in Gesellschaft des Premierleutnant Koch und des Ausländer Gelehrten sein will, weil ihn dieser Gedanke schmeichelt. Und das ist ein Zeichen von Dummheit. Ich habe auch den Eindruck, daß er nicht hinschreiben wird, wenn er einmal ½ Stunde zu spät beobachtet, es sein denn, daß man es bemerkt hat. Vielleicht sehe ich schwarz, aber ich fürchte es geht nicht gut.

Unfortunately, to make matters worse, there is the fact that he is not supposed to be accommodated in the house, and although he acts as if he is not bothered, it seems to offend him greatly, but I suspect that the reason for this is simply that he enjoys being in the presence of First Lieutenant Koch and the foreign scholar, because this idea is appealing to him. And this is a sign of stupidity. I also have the impression that he would not write down that he made an observation ½ an hour late unless somebody noticed it. Perhaps I am seeing doom and gloom, but I suspect that nothing good will come of this.
