Fear and Anxiety on the Energy Frontier: Understanding Women’s Early Encounters with Fossil Fuels in the Home

Sandwell focuses on rural Canada during transitions to fossil fuels, emphasising the anxieties of women as those responsible for life at home as the family “caretakers.” Real and justified concerns about the safety of new energy sources drove domestic energy choices, spurring and challenging mass campaigns targeted at women by energy suppliers.
