Nir Barak explores the limits of techno-managerial approaches towards creating greener cities. Arguing that a city is “not solely a ‘physical container’ that needs improved management,” but a political entity, Barak argues that it is important for urban actors to engage in civic-political discussions that probe the contemporary political, social, economic, and cultural practices that may lie behind unsustainable urban patterns, or be more conducive to environmentally friendly policies.
