Businesses may be best placed to lead the way towards a more sustainable future, without compromising the ability of poorer societies and future generations to meet their own needs, and without negatively impacting the environment. Hee examines how the concept of corporate responsibility has gained traction in recent years, resulting in several promising developments, among them increased transparency and accountability in businesses and improved eco-friendly manufacturing processes. However, Hee also shows that a cultural societal shift is essential—a change in attitude and behavior—if we wish to tackle the issues of the Anthropocene.
