Transdisciplinarity, though widely praised in academia for addressing complex problems, faces challenges due to entrenched disciplinary boundaries and specialization. Academic silos and the exponential growth in scholarly production hinder true interdisciplinary collaboration. Despite these obstacles, modest efforts at crossdisciplinarity often yield the most success. Personal experiences reveal that effective interdisciplinary work relies on shared goals, dialogue, and humility, acknowledging that no single discipline holds all answers. While formal models in some disciplines may clash with the broader, contextual approaches of others, a balance of perspectives is crucial. Ultimately, crossdisciplinary scholarship should be seen as a means to address real-world problems, requiring both disciplinary depth and interdisciplinary breadth.
