Earth First! Movement Writings

Earth First! Fist (1990)

Davis, John, et al., eds., Earth First! Journal 11, no. 1 (1 November 1990). Republished by the Environment & Society Portal, Multimedia Library.

In this issue of Earth First! Karen Pickett gives an update on the “break-up” within the Earth First! movement and the journal. In addition, Captain Paul Watson recounts his experiences on the North Pacific fishing grounds; George Wuerthner discusses various biodiversity issues; and Jamie Sayen calls for preservation of the Appalachian wilderness.

It is sometimes true […] that every hippie, leftist, anarchist eco-feminist type comes around because EF! is where the action is. But most get weeded out pretty quickly by misanthropy, irreverence or simple hard line so that the only hippies, the only anarchists, the only eco-feminists left are the ones that put the earth first.
