The publication of the “Stern Review on the Economics of Climate Change” in 2006 by former World Bank Chief Economist Nicholas Stern made headlines all over the world. Based on new scientific findings on climate change and economic forecasts, Stern predicted that the annual cost of measures to combat climate change would become up to twenty times greater.
