In the search for continuity, these men and conservationists like ourselves sometimes grow impatient with the tendency of the rest of mankind to ignore the great web of life which sustains us. We lose sight of what we're seeking to accomplish by fighting over scraps. Yes, we're all tired of scraps. Pools of wild land ringed by the rubble of the human species' enormously successful efforts at reproduction. But, scraps are all we've got left to sew and patch the web of life together. Each piece of wild land, unpolluted ocean and intact ozone is important. That is why the Wild Rockies are essential.
