Verhaag, Bertram. SEKEM: Aus der Kraft der Sonne [SEKEM: Born of the Sun]. Munich: DENKmal-Film, 2007. 45 min. https://youtu.be/Jman9lKXpkg.

This documentary marks the thirtieth anniversary of the founding of SEKEM, a leading agro-industrial corporation based in Egypt. Film director Bertram Verhaag explores how company founder Ibrahim Abouleish realized his vision to make the desert come alive, and, in the process, created a model that respects ecological, social, and cultural concerns at the same time as bringing economic success. Key to this success are the biodynamic agricultural methods applied and a holistic approach to development. In addition to increasing its core business, SEKEM has not only planted thousands of trees and created thousands of jobs but it has also built educational facilities and initiated cooperative, practice-based research programs. Indeed, during filming, plans were being drawn up for the foundation of a new university. (Source: Official Film Website)
