Earth First! Fist, Volume Six

Foreman, Dave, et al., eds., Earth First! 6, no. 1 (1 November 1985). Republished by the Environment & Society Portal, Multimedia Library. http://www.environmentandsociety.org/node/6865.

The journal Earth First! celebrates its fifth anniversary and Dave Foreman reflects on the past five years in this issue’s editorial.

This issue features a discussion on the proper philosophy of compromise within the cause of environmental movement and news from local EF! groups. Moreover, Craig Downer defends America’s wild horses, Lone Wolf Circles offers poetry about deep ecology, and Moses Harris calls for action against Camel Cigarettes and their international ad campaign.

Earth First! has become much more than a few burned-out environmental gunfighters who drank too much beer, and were going through a crisis of conscience from having been sucked into the system they were fighting.
