[088] eine Tour zum Mörkefjord, während Vigfus beim Zelt blieb und die Löcher zunähte, welche die Pferde in den letzten Tagen in die Heusäcke gefressen hatten. Es wehte jetzt ein sehr scharfer Föhnwind, so daß wir das Zelt umsetzen mußten, bevor ich abritt. Meine Tour hatte nur den Zweck, uns davon zu überzeugen, daß die anderen nicht am inneren Ende des Mörkefjords waren. Nach 1 ½-stündigem Ritt zum Teil im Trab, machte ich Halt. Ich war zwar noch ca 1-2 km vom Fjord entfernt, konnte aber seinen westlichen Teil vollständig überblicken. Von einem Depot war nichts zu sehen. Der Fjord selbst war eisfrei (ich konnte ihn bis zum “Sattel” übersehen); nur im westlichsten Kilometer wurden die Eisschollen durch eine langgestreckte Sandbank festgehalten, die quer davor lag. The purpose of the trip was to convince ourselves that the others were not at the inner end of the Mörke Fjord. After 1 ½ hour ride, part of it at a trot, I stopped. I was only 1–2 km from the fjord, but could still see its entire western side. I could not see the depot. The fjord itself was entirely ice-free (I could see as far as the “saddle”: only in the westernmost kilometer were icebergs held together by a long sand bank directly in front of them).
