Eine Vergleichung der Angaben der beiden Quecksilberthermometer bei schnell fallendem Luftdruck veranlaßte mich, das Stationsbarometer zwecks gründlicher Reinigung in die Stube zu nehmen. Es war nachgerade so vereist, daß die Luft nur noch einen sehr unvollkommenen Zutritt fand.
Die Meteorologie, inclusive Meteorologische Optik und Drachenaufstiege, ist doch das Gebiet, wo ich am besten, und auch mit der größten Freudigkeit arbeite. Die magnetischen Beobachtungen sind nur solange interessant, wie man lernt, sei es, daß sich dies Lernen auf Methode und Theorie, oder auf die Überwindung der durch die Natur gegebenen Hindernisse bezieht. Die Luftelektrizität ist mir bis jetzt ein Dorn im Auge – natürlich, weil ich noch nichts geschafft habe. Ich glaube aber auch, daß ihr Instrumentarium noch zu wenig praktisch durchgearbeitet ist und
